This is probably longer than it needed to be, but it certainly gets the point across. Most of what I know about K-12 education these days is from stories like these, since I'm out of that phase and don't have kids or a connection to my alma mater. I don't really remember too much standardized testing in elementary school though, I think only a few tests over the whole of it? Oh and Kindergarten was a half-day every day, which was pretty sweet.
