Right. That's the other dumb thing. The only people in the world who use AFP are Apple, and Apple gave up on AFP with Mavericks, instead going to SMB2. ...except for Time Machine. Which is still AFP. Sucks almost as hard as the Vac Pro.
By the way, now that I'm back in town, I thought I would share...THE NETCLOSET: http://imgur.com/a/XihhA It's since gone through a number of changes, and is no longer quite so much a fire hazard. Sadly, the water pipes still remain.
