For some brands (Schweppes, Nutella, Durex), I think the ultra-minimalist design examples worked out very well. for others, such as the Nesquick, or the Corn Flakes box you've posted, I like the centre one best. I dig simple, clean packaging, but I think it has to work with the branding as well.

I agree. Even where the most minimal look good here sitting next to the original, that probably isn't the case in the store when it's next to everything else. I often associate minimalist packaging with off-brand items. I wonder if they do any actual in store A/B testing to figure these things out.
