The alternative, everybody, is "don't use Facebook that much."

I don't use Facebook very much. A busy week is if I update three times in three days. To be honest, I don't play any games - I despise them - and I'm pretty territorial about what someone else can put on my Facebook. I rarely post anything on someone's wall and if I were dating someone it is even less likely I would post something on their wall. The last picture I have on Facebook of me with a guy I'm seeing that makes it clear I'm involved with someone is over four years old. Five I guess at this point. uh_oh and theadvancedapes are both right but also, if you are busy with a social life and personal priorities you will also not have the time for or interest in Facebook. I'm drastically more active here for instance. And on Twitter. Both I got bored of Facebook and I don't want you to know if I'm dating someone via Facebook! It's a record of the past and maybe one I don't want future prospects able to track. I'd rather fill in my own past on my own. To be honest that applies everywhere but love life is probably where it is most relevant.
