Ha ha, we've covered that topic before.

If there's something playing out in your direction -- and there surely is -- go and watch some live theatre. But failing that, watch the entire oevre in the series put together by the BBC in the early 1980s. One of my favourites is The Taming of the Shrew with John Cleese as Petrucchio. He arrives at the 18 minutes mark.

Haha, "Mee purdona'o, gen'ew mahstah moin". I used to get into so many arguments with teachers from the UK about whether or not an internal /t/ was a glottal stop (without ever bringing up class, of course). I still say that the glottal stop is a recent addition to English, but whatever. I mean, wha'eva.

NOTE Rico is referring to the funny accent of Lucentio's servant in The Taming of the Shrew video. How far did you get? Was it fun?

I got about 15 minutes in. I plan to take the rest in today. It was pretty fun, from what I saw.

In the spring, there will be several locations nearby with some kind of "Shakespeare in the park". Given the continuing snowfall, spring can't come soon enough . . . Thanks for the links!
