This is a more general issue: people only rely on one or two sources for their news. Most news organizations have some slant - conscious or unconscious. If a person only relies on one or two sources, then there is a real risk of adopting that slant. Reading different news organizations helps a person develop a healthy perspective.
Agreed, but "reading alternatives" is one thing, and leaving comments along the lines of "thank god for <x>" is entirely different matter.
To keep things in perspective, you can be certain that a certain subset of the conversations that we have here on Hubski would simply not be tolerated in the nations afflicted with the regimes that fund and operate these organs. I know this to be true for a fact at least for Iran. Also note: The Library of Congress already is archiving the entire tweet stream and that in fact is well within their mandate:
