As a Patriots fan and an atheist, I'm looking forward to next week.

All my Patriots fans (there are a lot of Bostonians out here in SF) were rooting for the Broncos to win after the Bengals lost to the Texans. They made no secret about not wanting to face the Steelers. I don't think the Broncos will win at Foxboro, but I am hoping that they can keep it interesting.

I don't understand why so many people give him such a hard time over his religious believes. So he thanks his "Lord and Savior" after each win and "tebows" on the field. How is that any different from folks who point to the sky after a great play or thanking anyone else significant in their up bringing. I don't believe in any way that "god" blessed him so that he delivers "miraculous" victories week in and week out. What his "god" did ingrain in him is a hard working ethic, resiliency, and perseverance to not give up.

For years, I wouldn't listen to the Grateful Dead. Why? Because the people that liked them always annoyed the shit out of me. Such is the case with Tim Tebow. Just today I was talking to a girl about how I was going out tonight to watch the BCS Championship game, she immediately said, "Did you see the Tebow game". The TEBOW game. She knows nothing about football but knows that Tebow is great because he loves god.

Another thing that drives me nuts about Tebow (and many christians) is that Jesus said, "And when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by men. I tell you the truth, they have received their reward in full". -Don't go around praising God for every touchdown and every win. Be humble about your faith. I think someone should have to say, "tell me about your faith" before anyone open their mouths.

Eventually, I got over the Grateful Deads annoying fan base and eventually found them to be an amazing band. Who knows, maybe the same will happen with Tebow.

So, really my dislike of Tebow is less about Tebow IMO and more about the droves of idiots that know nothing about football or the man they claim as lord, but blindly worship both.

But if I know scrimetime, god could come down from the sky and say "Tebow is my quarterback" and he'd still root for the Pats.

That is exactly it. The whole "Tebow" phenomena was created by the media. He did not ask for all the attention and it is all the unwarranted attention that is making him such a divisive figure. I cannot care less if he is religious or not, the important thing is can he deliver the wins. If his faith is what motivates him to perform, he shouldn't be vilified for it.

It's not just "created by the media", it's who Tebow is: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P9oSpQprZ9I

He's an evangelist quarterback. He's not knocking on your door selling Jesus, he's tapping on your tv screen.

I appreciate his desire to make the world a better place, I do but I can also see Jake Plummers side of things. -Just play football, it's a game... and guess what? God doesn't give a s__t who's winning and losing on the field.

I have not heard once where he preaches for people to convert to Christianity to save their souls from eternal damnation and such. And I do agree that God, if he/she exists, doesn't give a hoot about who is winning or losing a football game. There are much bigger issues in this world.
