I was going to reference Cedar Point myself. They even have their own extremely marketable height taxonomy: mega, giga.... just perfect for your day-at-the-park-t-shirt-souvenir. I think The Millenium Force, for me, was the point when I realized that the capitalist value system had truly infiltrated and asphyxiated my amusement park fun. Fuck tallest and fastest. I'll take the creaky-grey-wood-holy-shit-that-steel-beam-almost-decapitated-me-hive-five-the-blue-car-across-the-track-sexy-curve of the Gemini any day of the week. (well maybe not Saturday because the lines suck.)

Well said. The holy-shit-that-steel-beam-almost-decapitated-me part brought back some fond memories. My first coaster ever was the Blue Streak. Remember that one? Sadly, it's gone.

No shit? Bummer. I wonder where the material went. They should celebrate the death of a coaster like they do the death of some buildings. Imagine a controlled bon fire. Tarp off everything near it. Invite over a few bands and watch the blue blaze!
