Thanks. This article cheered me up.

gq has been reading to our -3mo, and she kicks about when she does. I'm going to start doing the same once I get my sick ass in shape. Right now, I'm keeping my distance. However, gq's Chinese immune system always puts mine to shame.

Now I am embarrassed about how long I've been reading Anna Karenina.

It took me 4 months to read The Hobbit in 4th grade. It took me 3 days to read Stephen King's "It" in 6th.

Fuckin' Russians are inscrutable, man. I gave War and Peace 300 pages and said "fuck this shit."

I started Doctor Jivago once. Capitulated early on. What was your problem? Mine were the names: I couldn't keep up who was who.

The endless parade of passive voice. Shit kept happening to people over and over and over again, rather than those people, like, doing stuff.

Funny, I think it takes 3 days to watch It also! What a fukin awesome movie until the spider ruins the whole thing and leaves you pissed off for wasting half a day. Is that the same ending as the book?

It's been a LONG time since I've read the book but as I recall it does take the form of the spider. I remember sewers and lots of adolescent sexual innuendo. I loved it as I too was an adolescent when I read it. Like the Stand I read it in a weekend only leaving the book to eat and occasionally sleep.
