I feel fortunate that Bourguereau's The Nut Gatherers is at my local museum, the Detroit Institute of Arts.
His paintings radiate.
This one is in Havana. I've never been.
It's interesting that the flesh and cloth are so dynamically lit and the waves are so flat. The flesh is particularly nice on those other paintings too. It sounds weird to say, but the hairlines and fingernails are very finely done on those other paintings. I'd never heard of this guy, but it's good stuff.
