I'm moving and while packing I came across something my father made for me. It was really cool of him.
My band "The New Green," had a sort of symbol or emblem we used on our CD's, posters, stickers etc. It was a green box with a sprout like thing coming out of it. You can see it on the right of this old poster of ours:
My dad was our biggest fan. He made us the below statue of "the new green symbol." It's awesome.
We used it for our merch table, but I think he had hoped it would grace the stage with us. Alas, at only 4 feet tall it was a bit too "stonehenge-esque," if you know what I mean. Still, it's a great treasure of mine, it was his way of trying to be a part of something he knew I loved. Pretty damned cool.
So how about you? What is something someone created for you?
I don't get much stuff made for me, but on one of my game dev projects, our artist drew all of the developers for the credits screen. This is me:
Our artist later removed the fishing poles and gave everyone their images. So I use mine as my Facebook profile picture. I'm the worm by the way (haha not really, I'm the fisher). The game you play as the worm, so the idea for the credits was to have everyone be fishing and for "us" to be the worms. Kind of an amusing idea. Edit: I should mention that each person was individualized with their own expression and everything. Each really represented and looked like us. So yea, that's actually what I look like :P. I have an angry face/eyes because I was getting kind of upset at the time (it was a game jam and nothing was going right). And I apparently rage at stuff a lot :P Edit 2: I gave your band/music a listen. It's not my cup of tea, but it sounded pretty good. I have relatives that are in a "band" that are completely awful. You actually sound like a legit band (and your Last.FM page is more popular than some of the stuff I listen to). Best of luck.
Thanks for listening, I appreciate it. That's pretty cool that your likeness is in a game. I had a Mexican muralist draw a portrait of me on a train ride from Whitefish Montana to Chicago once. I wish I could find it. I had whiskey and shared it with him. He had no money and it was his way of paying. -so cool.
That's a really great sketch, I can see why you like it. -Moody. While moving, I ran across this old drawing of my brother and me. It's way less interesting, but it was still a good find during today's horrendous move. -torrential rains and a tornado. Moving sucks, don't do it kids.
That's an awesome statue. The Tap ref is particularly poignant today, because I'm wearing my Nigel Tufnel t-shirt ("My exact inner structure, done in a t-shirt. Exactly medically accurate"). Anyway, my cousin made this print/painting for me for Christmas one year, and I love it.
That is pretty cool, you have a creative boyfriend. Well done sir.
