Rock wall. The Inca were master masons. Their rock structures have stood the test of time in volatility because they used no mortar. They allow just enough space between the rocks for movement to occur and not disrupt the integrity of the structures.

Hence this still exists:

Was going through the archival slides before the slide scanner decided to be a little bitch, thereby requiring me to send it on to a new home. Need to resume. Anyway, my mother near Urubamba, Peru ("flat valley full of spiders" in quechua) 1966:

Wow, what a photo. humanodon is right, her clothing seems perfect for the surroundings, even her skin color. Great shot.

I visited near Urubamba while I was there and saw the Urubamba river too. It had recently been flooded and there was a ton of debris in the the trees around the river and in the river itself. Peoples clothing, children's toys etc all floating around in the trees beside the Urubamba River. -Wish I had photos, it was quite a site.

What can I say? Three tours in the Peace Corps will do that to a person.

Nice how the wall complements and contrasts with your mother's clothes. Coincidence?
