Aside: Check out the variety of Hubski music posts via this short list I made. -Haven't played around with "lists" enough, going to give it a try today.
I've been listening to that St Vincent and David Byrne combo since I found it in the previous thread. Besides that, I really like these newfound tracks: Big Scary - Invest. I found this song and through it the Weekly DJ album. Amazing track. St. Lucia - All Eyes On You Panama - Always Besides those I've been listening to an acoustic version of Kingswood's Yeah Go Die which I can't for the live of me find on Youtube. The rest of the time the Radio 2 Top 2000 is on, which is a voted list of the best songs of all time (scroll down for the list).
That top 2000 list was surprisingly mediocre in my opinion. If you removed everything that is oddly named, "van groots, etc", it is pretty much a list of music that is commonly played on classic rock stations here.
It is mostly common classic rock (and Dutch nostalgic songs here and there). They're still good songs though. And it's the biggest radio event of the year, so it's bound to have average music voted up. Still, the next song is Alan Parsons' Eye in the Sky. I'm not complaining.
Dean Wareham's new "mini-album," Emancipated Hearts. Does a great cover of "Air" by The Incredible String Band: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fXnrnecMfH4 Whole album is fantastic.
Really into Hauschka lately. Not so much available on youtube, but I would really recommend the "Salon des Amateurs" available on spotify
DJ Cheb i Sabbah - Narajanma Bandage Rest in Peace.
That was the very first thing I saw on Hubski, band/submission/anything else. Still love All Blondes Go To Heaven!
Funny you should mention that, I remember you commenting on it! I've been listening to this all day because I Can See Mountains played their last show last night, and me and my buddy listened to this on the drive back from the show. It's been bittersweet seeing two of my favorite Buffalo bands bite the dust this past year.
Oh what!? I didn't know that. Do you know why they are breaking up?
I can't say for certain, but from what I've heard it's personality conflicts in the band (at least two regular band members didn't partake in last night's show) and issues with their record label.
Elephant Strut by Beat Market before yesterday. Since the Balkan thread, i'm back listening to Vopli Vidopliacova (they did a lot of Folk Ukrainian songs, but their original songs are pretty good too) and Goran Bregovic and the Gipsy Kings , and Gogol Bordello

Like a lot of people, my week was consumed largely by christmas music. My paternal grandparents are German and they love the movie "The Sound of Music." We watched it together as a family, it was nice. I've been listening to my grandmother sing the song "Edelweiss" since I can remember. It's soothing. Otherwise, I listened to some Alt-J, some M. Ward and some Great Lakes Myth Society. But mostly, I listened to this.
Have been drawn back to the amazing sendoff Amon Tobin gave for his ISAM shows lately.
