On this list: 6 albums (or EPs) I have heard, including 3 or 4 that will feature on my own list; 5 albums that are in my to-listen pile; and 5 albums I haven't heard of or wasn't planning to listen to, but will now because your write-ups are so effective. Counting Talon of the Hawk, incidentally. My list may be complete before the 31st, that's the plan anyway. Probably 50 albums I need to spin first. I love this time of year for different reasons than everyone else. EDIT: posted your list to facebook (shout if you don't want that for any reason, although I've been doing it with Cadell's articles for a year now without telling him), which won't help you gain exposure at all because I don't have any cool facebook friends.
I'm excited to see your list! If I actually went through and listened to everything this list wouldn't have been out until February so there will likely be a "things I missed in 2013" list at some point. Which albums weren't you planning on listening to, if I may ask? End of the year lists are great! Especially in terms of music since there's such an abundance of it and nobody ever agrees on what the best albums were (unless you're a publication and Yeezus comes out, apparently). That's completely fine, feel free to share my discussions on Facebook! Mind if I do the same once yours comes out?
Wasn't probably going to bother with the Toro Y Moi -- failed to get into their music, probably a genre problem for me, although they're pretty solid live -- or the Deafheaven. Heard one track of the latter and figured it's all probably going to sound like that. Still on the fence there so I included it in the to-listen section. I couldn't figure out what could possibly separate Mikal Cronin from everything else that is described exactly the same way but I'll give it a shot at some point. Destroyer has too many albums and I have no clue where to start so I probably wasn't going to start now. My list will just go straight to hubski, I don't have a website of any kind.
If you're not a fan of chillwave then you might not like the Toro album. It's a lot different than his previous albums but it still retains some a lot of the song structures and timbres. Deafheaven is one that I really appreciated because I listen to a decent amount of black metal and was already of the band. If you want to get into Destroyer I would recommend starting with Kaputt, it's probably his most accessible album. He is one of my favorite musicians. As for Mikal Cronin, there's an earnestness to his music and I like it a lot for some reason. Give me a shoutout when you post yours, I'd rather not miss it.
