I have holidays so I plan on sleeping, and basically living a Hakuna Matata lifestyle for a few weeks. This means that I will be reading books I've been meaning to read, watching movies I've been thinking about watching (I have a strange craving for classic Disney films like The Jungle Book, The Lion King and Hercules) and playing many of the games in my Steam library which are collecting digital dust.
Then I plan on trying a business idea that I've had for a while, and seeing where that goes. Hopefully, that motivation will get me back into a working mood so I can embrace the responsibility that next year brings. And then the cycle will start all over again.
It's the ciiiiircle of liiiiiife!
It's -5 here in Minnesota (US), and definitely not summer... but I'm sharing this post because I like the happy, warm, and care-free attitude expressed. I am however, on an entire week off. So I do have a little free time. Been reading a lot, killed two books since last Friday, half way through a third I'm enjoying, and been getting a lot of stuff done around the house. It's been nice and quiet and peaceful. But I'm already getting bored and kind of looking forward to going back to work next Monday. Weird, I know, but I get bored when I have this much time to myself these days.
I'm planning on returning to Australia with 2 weeks in New Zealand next (2014/2015) summer. We'll def have to do a Hubski meetup. Looking forward to avoiding a section of winter like I did 2 years ago. Yes, it's already been 2 fucking years since I doubled up on summer. Best decision ever but one that will make me forever hate winters.
You're more than welcome to come experience the LA winters. They are cold and icky and the days are too short. Even if it isn't as cold as yours, there still isn't much to do and it's much too cold to run / lounge around naked. Plus my heats still not on. So It's the same temperature inside and out.
If you ever do a golf/beer Florida pilgrimage in Jan or Feb, let me know. We can not talk to each other.
Summer is always a busy time in NZ, esp. as Christmas / New Years approaches (some call it 'the silly season'). I've got another weekend or two before I'll be ready to put her in the water, but I'm mad keen to get out and play with my new toy, "Honey"
Plan to take her camping in January too. It's also the busiest time of the year for a beekeeper. Haven't even fired up GTA5 in over a month!
Does that mean we should be expecting more beekeeping posts from you around that time? It's also the busiest time of the year for a beekeeper. Haven't even fired up GTA5 in over a month!
:-) I'm planning to write up a beekeeping report soon. A lot has happened since my last update. Short story, the girls are going like gangbusters; two hives this summer.
Ahh the Aussies. I can't speak for the rest of us, here in North Hubskiville, but it's nice to have a window into a world where it's summer. Aussies, speak up!! Descartes, freepenguin, Moeman, Run-CMC, blackwind, zen, istara, briandmyers, Lu, Andorra (Indonesia, but probably summer there too),
This just gave me an idea for the future: travel to the southern hemisphere every summer so it's never summer :D. But more on topic: this winter I'm going home to visit and be cheap. Perhaps play some video games as well (since I've been so busy with my studies).
I'm going to be working an internship near Boston until July, living at home for a month (possible West Coast trip!?) and then returning to college to take up a new position there prior to classes starting. Moving twice in a month is going to be great!
11°C here in Brighton, UK. I'm going to be in the house or library or computer lab studying for my exams in January and doing my final year project (wooo!). Then I'll go back home for Christmas, try to continue working while seeing my old school friends and consuming far too much alcohol / rich food. Any weight I gain will surely be burned off by the angst of the next semester and the large amount of fresh fruit and vegetables I now eat. There is a farmer's market on campus every week and I always go there after I've had my project advisor meeting :D For once I don't have any plans to drastically change my life this year (at least not yet). I suppose I can always take up meditation...
There's a farmers market directly on your campus? That sounds wonderful, I'm a big advocate of going to those markets for groceries if possible. Consuming too much alcohol and food is one of the best parts of the Holidays.
Getting ready for grad school and working some part time jobs.
During the southern hemisphere summer, I'll be visiting home for a couple weeks and doing some skiing, and then going on a two-week tour of the southern US with the Cornell University Glee Club before heading back to school. During the northern hemisphere summer, I'll be interning at Google in Mountain View.
That sounds very interesting. Mountain View sounds awesome. It's a dream for those who are children at heart.
I'm spending six weeks in Dresden! Four of them will be spent in an intensive language course, and two will be for traveling on my own. I'm very excited. For the rest of the summer I may try to get a new job or something, but more likely I'll just lounge around or take a trip somewhere with the girlfriend.
