Oh man, I'm making my first Japan trip in the coming spring, and I can't wait. I've been wanting to go there for a long while. Fortunately, I have Japanese family, so I hope to get the insider treatment on where to eat and whatnot, for as beautiful as the country seems to be, the food is really what interests me most (well, maybe the women, too, if I'm being honest). You've been, I assume? Any recommendations?
I'm jealous! I actually have not had the opportunity; one of the largest English as a Foreign Language schools closed down in 2007 and threw a lot of people into a tizzy. I'm not sure what the situation is like now. Japanese family is a huge plus for a trip like that, or so I'd imagine. I wish I had some recommendations to make, but unfortunately, I don't! I have heard though, that bars that serve food (ones not geared toward Westerners anyway) serve a lot of different kinds of things in small portions, so that might be one way to go about exploring the local food.
