I would love to see more places adopt this law. Apparently, since they cannot use signage, I heard shops and business instead paint their facade bright colours or use other eye catching devices to garner attention, which is a much more interesting way to create a presence in a city.
So by banning billboards, advertisers were forced to weave their work deeper into culture itself, thus making advertising more social and humane. I can't tell if that's good or creepy.
EDIT: I found a mini 10-minute documentary on this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U1Nmnv0Ospg

I wonder if it would be a good idea to turn all those billboards into public art spaces, and fill them with murals and tasteful graffiti. I'd love to live in such a city.
