Of course this is sort of ridiculous for various reasons. But it's a fun reminder of how privileged almost everyone in the west is just by default.
Remember it's "net." I put in the amount I earn after taxes and before taxes and it substantially changes my hourly take. Still, I'm lucky not to be the average laborer in Ghana.
Well, net is one of those things ... is that after taxes, after expenses, after everything except free cash flows ... does it adjust for how many dependents you have, where you live, the relative value of your currency? Course not. But it's still a fun exercise and an apt reminder on Thanksgiving of what most of us on hubski have that others don't.
Generally, in these types of scenarios I assume they're meaning "take home," or after taxes. But good point and Happy Thanksgiving. There's no doubt that I'm an extremely fortunate person.
I like how the site takes the gimmick that everyone would want to participate in, "How much are you making compared to everyone else in the world," and then immediately spins it into take this opportunity to make a difference. Really effective.
