This battle is just plain demoralizing to me. There's no other way to put it. I take a little heart in the thought that some lawmakers seem to be waking up to the unfathomable abuses (literally, we're not allowed to know them) taking place thanks to Snowden, but the needle doesn't seem to be moving perceptibly. Most of what I see is a lot of lip service attached to bills that say the opposite of what the framers say they do. It's easy to blame Obama (because he deserves so much of it), but in this case I'm especially angry at Tea Party Republicans as well. This should be their issue. They should me marching in the streets and dominating the national dialogue with a fever pitch only seen if a lawmaker proposes expanding background checks on gun purchases (worst of all crimes of course). Instead, crickets. But is it any surprise really, with an American public this apathetic?
