We're all addicts. He made a bad decision that stuck with him. Death is a release, I think the guy let go. what do you think?
I think death might be to Cobain or Ian that addictions are to everyone else. No one has a reason to go through life and some people have a harder time admitting that. Cobain was overwhelmed by what was happening to him, in his suicide letter he quoted neil young by saying, "its better to burn out than to fade away" and what Kurt was afraid of was that his music/passion was going to become fake and not what it was meant to be. Lou never saw that and thats why he was an ambitious song writer until the end, which you could see by him collaborating with metallica on the album Lulu. I think Lou did see a reason to keep living, in fact... he wrote a song called "I found a reason" on the VU album "Loaded", which i would recommend.
that's awesome dude, you know your stuff. Thom Yorke dedicated his introduction to songwriting to Neil Young. I wonder if he ever knew what he would be leaving behind for us.
Thom Yorke did a great cover of "After the Gold Rush" by neil young, check it out.
