Survivorship bias is the logical error of concentrating on the people or things that "survived" some process and inadvertently overlooking those that did not because of their lack of visibility.
I heard of a scam around the same principle.
Pick 100 mail address. Send a mail to half of them telling you're a psychic and you guessed that the Bitcoin Market will go up tomorrow. Say it will go down to the remaining half.
You'll be right for 50 dudes. Send a new prediction of a raise to 25 of them and a decrease to the other... etc. At the end, you'll have one dude persuaded you guessed every move of the Bitcoin stock exchange right for the entire week. You can probably ask him a shitload of money for your next day prediction. I like scam using the greed of the target.
