With all his mention of TOR, Greenwald's latest article comes to mind. I fear I do not have the knowledge required to access this darknet.
If you can use a browser you do. 1) Download the Tor Browser Bundle 1') Open noscript's options (the blue 'S' with a red exclamation point next to it to the left of the url bar). Uncheck 'Scripts Globally Allowed (dangerous)'. 2) Explore. /r/onions is a decent place to start.
I tried this before, however was not told to uncheck the 'Scripts Globally Allowed' box. I wound up receiving all sorts of "access camera" requests, not sure if that's related. Could you tell me a little more about how allowing global scripts is dangerous?
Allowing scripts globally is allowing any page you visit to run programs on your computer. Allowing 3rd parties to run programs on your computer always carries some risk. Browsers try to prevent JavaScript from doing anything dangerous, but browsers have bugs that can be exploited. Playing with unwary users' webcams is a thing, and can be accomplished with Flash. NoScript will also block Flash if you uncheck 'Scripts Globally Allowed'.
