Years ago I conceived of a website / bulletin board that would allow fans to do this before the show. Call it bandhost.org or something. Basically my idea was to allow fans to offer their domiciles up to the various bands that are on tour, to help lower their expenses and to enjoy hosting afterparties or whatever. You create a profile, with a description of your pad, location, some of your house rules, maybe some pictures, etc. This profile remains private until you release it to specific bands. Bands, or their managers, would post their gigs / tours by date. Fans with places in proximity and no personal conflicts could then invite the band to stay for that upcoming show, with an email and a link or password to details about your pad. If the band thinks you sound cool and want to take you up on the offer to crash there, they set it up, and maybe hook you up with a few free tickets or a t-shirt or something. Basically I think it'd be like couchsurfing, but specifically for bands on the road. Anyway, that was when I was young. Anyone here is welcome to take that idea and run with it if you want to make the effort and set it up. If you want to take it to the next level, have an escrow service where hosts put up $X00 and the band put in $x00 which stays in escrow while they are on tour as good faith that they won't trash/steal.
