Hmm. I lived really close to Davis Square in 2007 and I didn't hear about this happening. Sounds kind of cool though.
Wow. Apparently the world of Marching Band festivals is a small one.The thing that defines Honk! bands is that they’re all mobile, they’re all acoustic, they play on the street — they are less interested in playing in a club, on a stage — and they are often politically motivated,” says Kate Riegle-van West, a member of the Honk! committee and the Second Line Social Aid & Pleasure Society Brass Band.
-Would she describe their band as "politically motivated?"
Yeah it's funny. She is in the DPMB video right at the end next to the black guy who is chanting about Detroit parties. Small world. Anyway she and a lot of the band mates consider the band to be apolitical. That's where they diverge from the scene a bit. They're just out there to have a good time and entertain people.
Yeah, I caught her there right at the "ain't no party like a Detroit party" chant. Looks like a blast!
