I'm vegan and the pictures alone made my stomach turn. I can't even imagine the smell of it all. It'd be an interesting case to follow and see how his health does over time.
The pictures were what pushed me to post the article, it's just so strange. Did you find it bizarre that he's dating a vegan? She cites the health benefits he's supposedly seen as the reason she supports it, but a fundamental part of their life is so completely opposite I'd be surprised if there was no strain on their relationship. That said, he seems very aware of what he is doing and the wellness of the animals he eats, to a much greater degree than the general population.
Yeah, I don't know, something doesn't feel right. I guess if he has to do that to survive then I can see how she might be sympathetic and put up with the raw meat in her life. Or, maybe this is a fake story to generate traffic through the shock effect. As my grandma says, "you can't believe everything you see on the internet, you know?"
Nope. I have room-mated around the Pacific Northwest enough to know that food-nut-ball-ism (no offense ;-) is a bond between people ... attracting all kinds of folks together where you wouldn't imagine. I have also watched three green, energy conscious people living in one house require three refrigerators running for their specific diets ... and none of them blinked an eye. Sometimes I think that vegan/veggie/paleo/raw whatever folks just want all people to spend some intellectual energy on our food habits. You are only dirty to them if you don't care.Did you find it bizarre that he's dating a vegan?
I think that's a fair thing to ask though. For something as essential to the quality of a person's life as the food they eat, few people consider anything besides the taste and the cost. Many are also concerned about the number of calories or the amount of fat, but taking a step back and contemplating the entire diet, and how it all fits together to influence one's health, is what is needed. The next step would be how our personal diets effect the health of those around us and the health of the ecosystem at large. I find it almost unbelievable that three people each need their own refrigerators. I'm one person and if my refrigerator was packed full of fresh fruits and vegetables I don't know if I would be able to eat them all before they started going bad.Sometimes I think that vegan/veggie/paleo/raw whatever folks just want all people to spend some intellectual energy on our food habits.
