A law banning the copying of DVDs would be unenforceable. I mean, how would anyone know you're doing it? It's not like this is filesharing where you can monitor a person's downloads and trace them back to their home; it's a completely local and private process. So unless we have police officers peeking over the shoulder of every computer user, no one would get caught. What is the point of this law?
It's similar to legally downloading music through a subscription service and then removing the DRM.
