Yeah anytime a study touts such a high risk ratio that's a big ol red flag.

Using my very basic epidemiology knowledge, it looks like they calculated solely based on case numbers and not on person-time. Maybe somebody with more epi knowledge can chime in, but it just seems like poor study design.

I think there is an actual use case for these things, but we are far from them being practical in any way, shape, or form.

The real use I see is for entertainment, specifically in public places. The ability to turn on a TV show or movie anywhere, anytime, while no one can see what you're watching is a significant thing. In the right circumstances, that point alone will sell millions.

This video highlights just how goofy people look and act while using them. Texting and other motions are hilarious to watch from an outside perspective. If Apple can introduce forms of tactile interaction, I can see that possibly catching on—I'm sure as hell not going to single-finger type something in the air, but if I can type on a table in front of me? Maybe.

And really, people won't be caught dead wearing anything as conspicuous as these out in public. I'm honestly convinced we're still much further out than 10 years from VR being seamlessly integrated. These won't catch on until they're inconspicuous, and I feel like that'll take some pretty massive technology leaps.

There's a lot not being said about the IL and one of those is that you most likely would have never been allowed into country in the first place. For the best, that is not a place you want to be. At all. Should I go it will not be with the IL.

I hope that things getting worse in Russia will lead to changes. It may be a misplaced hope and we do truly see a NK equivalent, but in the meantime it gives me an excuse for having the same terrible thoughts as you.

I should have absolutely elaborated and explained that the hack was rooted in solana, it’s an important distinction. I’ve been ruminating on very similiar ideas since the hack, mostly why the hell solana still has popularity. Or really any of the other L1 chains. Any other chain makes at least one sacrifice in the blockchain triangle and in the end those are the fundamentals that drive crypto.

I think the nature of the hack is slightly hilarious as well. As a more technical person explained to me, the exploit+fix was actually publicly published for anyone to see, and wormhole just didn’t fix it. $320 million of negligence is quite a beautiful thing to see sometimes.

I also hate every aspect of this but for different reasons. Big business and government will eventually shift to blockchain. But that is horrifying in it's own right. I mean hell, one of this guy's examples is Donald Trump being censored. Our social media platforms are already horrible enough, imagine if they're completely unmoderated.

The only thing underpinning the U.S. dollar’s status right now seems to be that there is not a better option available. That’s not a recipe for long-term success because sooner or later a viable option will emerge.
