Well, at the moment, I'm taking care of some family members who can't really take care of themselves. So, unless there are some drastic changes in the near future, I can't just run off and indulge myself. But I agree, the first step is always the hardest. Thanks!

I'm in the process of planning a walk across the country. I've been nose deep in maps, atlases, and books about the subject. I've also been slowly picking up the equipment I'll need for the journey. It's been a lifelong dream of mine to do this, and after some recent events, I feel I have the confidence to accomplish it. I also plan on collecting as many stories as I can from the people I'm bound to meet. I may share the stories in a blog. The purpose of the trip will be to really challenge myself, as well as shore up what I believe to be my greatest weaknesses. Unfortunately, my current living situation means I don't have a definite time line as far as when I'll be able to go, but when I eventually get the chance, I want to be ready.

Wow, that's heartbreaking. My mom was in a relationship like that and this one really resonated with me. I hope you try and stay positive, and have people you can talk to.

Hey, thanks for the support. I absolutely love New Orleans. I used to live in Houston, TX and would visit NOLA frequently to see friends. I love the vibe and culture of the city, and for a jazz lover, there's no better place to be.

That's not mundane at all! Honestly, that seems really interesting. would you be willing to share some of your favorites?

I moved to Las Vegas about 10 months ago to help my aunt and my 81 year old grandmother after my uncle passed away last year and my aunt suffered a stroke. I don't know how long I'll be here, but I'm trying to make the best of my time by making an attempt at a college degree after all this time.

  Playing E S O
  Those goddamn Argonians
  Rage quit, time for bed

Or for something real life related

  Walked down to the store
  Cute girl selling art supplies
  Might take some classes
explodingmonkeys  ·  3427 days ago  ·  link  ·    ·  parent  ·  post: What are some of your tips on articulating ideas into words?

Thanks for all the insightful responses. Working through an outline is definitely something I've never really practiced, and may alleviate the feeling of grasping at aether in terms of getting my ideas out there. I think my main issue is having the mind of a goldfish. I have little confidence in my ability be clear and concise, most of my thoughts and ideas lack focus and I find myself trying to overload each sentence with as many ideas as I can fit. I think most of the responses are spot on in that I need to slow down and reflect on what my words are really trying to say.

I'm reading Planetwalker by John Francis in preparation for a long distance walk I'm planning.

I will have to concede the fact that the show can be excruciatingly slow at times, but I feel the payoff at the end of most episodes, especially ones like "Fifteen Million Merits", are worth the hour long awkwardness.

I should preface this to say I eat up Sci-Fi like Fremen eat Spice, even the campiest science fiction stories could hold my attention. That being said, I'm surprised that no one has mentioned Black Mirror, possibly my favorite new show. Funny, dark, and with an intensity that echos waves of discomfort, dripping with satire that lampoons modern society. It's not for everyone, but I recommend you to at least check out the episodes "Fifteen Million Merits" and "White Bear" to get a feel for the type of ideas the show displays.

Chasing down my last pot of coffee of the day with some green tea.

I've been playing guitar on-and-off for about 10 years. Over the course of that time, I've also added ukulele and cajon to the list of instruments I play only in the company of myself.

I started when I was 16, but really, I didn't end up playing anything beyond power chords until maybe 6 years ago. Since then, playing music has been my go to stress relief after a long day.
