It's surprisingly progressive -- the main protagonists are women and the male lead is a PoC. It's also really funny, intentionally so. Highly underrated IMO.

I bought a $2300 NAS simply for backup.

Is that your Synology hub, or whatever they are called? That is the dream. Rigfht now I am running regular old, unraid-configured WD HDs with some cheapo Seagate external drives as backup. In the future I shall refer to these times as my Years of Living Dangerously.

I only have 6 terabytes, I really should bite the bullet and get on that Synology train before the inevitable occurs.

Yeah that's part of the reason I'm going through and doing it all manually. I let one of the not iTunes programs rake one of my libraries once. I had a similar experience to yours. It's good to kinow I'm not wasting my time.

it's fascinating how easily such an ingrained habit could be wiped away with just a little bit of negative feedback.

It's the same for me. I noticed it years ago on most social media, but it wasn't until I saw that flippant FB post by my friend that I really thought about it. I have since stopped adding them in.

It's a small thing but I think it's interesting the way that tech has influenced basic typed communication on that level.

It used to be standard in formal writing but I have noticed that a lot of social websites will ignore a double space. Then I saw a post on a friend's FB account that said that the only people who still used it were hopelessly out of fashion. He's the editor of kind of a hip, young magazine. Just wondering what your thoughts are on the subject.

The LAPD also began to make use of a tool that had previously been used sparingly: the gang injunction, essentially a ban on gang members hanging out together in public. It's doesn't explicitly mention video games but it does speak to the larger point of people not being on the street has been one of the many factors that have lead to a drop in violent crime. This of course was precipitated by the gang injunction forcing them to clear out of sight.
