In 1995 I bought an Ensoniq Soundscape Elite soundcard to run my sequencer. It came packaged with a demo version of Warcraft II - Tides of Darkness. I was bored so I started playing... and then, about four AM, finished the first chapter (the only thing included in the demo). My first thought was "I have to buy the game" and my second thought was "what the hell happened? It was 4pm the last time you checked." I never bought Warcraft. There was a period back before I freelanced when all I wanted to do was play The Sims. I think it was the control I wanted. I'd write screenplays instead. Still not sure which choice would have been better.
