My months have been spent further and further away from what I used to listen to regularly. Right now, it's purely bluegrass and Mongolian throat singing. I'm really into the throat singing. Huun-Huur-Tu is all I've listened to for three days, and it's immeasurably relaxing or uplifting depending on the song. And for the bluegrass, we have a fantastic radio station out of the university I work for: 105.5 WAMU Bluegrass Country. The DJs are all distinct in the styles they play and all know the works and artists they play intimately. It's a fantastic cross-section of American culture and history as well when they talk about the roots of what's being played. You can stream the station, if you're interested. http://bluegrasscountry.org/ But I've also been listening to the big names lately too. They had Dom Flemons on for a mini-concert and interview and he's such a fantastically knowledgeable and likeable guy. So I've been doing a Carolina Chocolate Drops binge. It's so happy and musically rich and grounding. I can't help but just feel good about life.
