The comparison between ABC and Twitch did feel weird. He's basing accessibility on the fact that he might stumble across and NBA final therefore it's more accessbile? I think the argument comparing World Series Poker Tour and Cup Stacking to eSports is stronger than his accessibility argument. I would have liked to see more reasoning like, if World Series Poker is worthy enough for ESPN, then eSports should be as well.
That letter was a great read. I have one more year of college and as of late I've been struggling with the questions he poses. "What have you done? What have you made? Who do you know? Why are you interesting?" I know the degree is what will get recruiters to take the time to look at my application, but I want more substance than that.
Love the update. Just yesterday I was hoping we would get collapsible comments!
I thought it was interesting to see characters coping with the inevitability of dying. When Ron is told he has only thirty days to live, he refuses to accept it. Ron tries to blame the doctors for making a mistake while claiming that nothing can kill Ron Woodroof in thirty days. I feel like a lot of what I find important would lose all value if I was told I had thirty days to live too.
Hey, congrats on the first father's day. I hope there are many more to come!
This remix is just awesome. Thank you for this!
Awesome. I was looking for the some new anime to watch.
Here I am, 20 hours later, reading your comment instead of it disappearing into the abyss.
I just checked and Boyhood is available in some nearby Redboxes, so maybe there's one near you that has it too. Whenver you find the time, let me know what you think! :D
I absolutely loved Boyhood. It truly felt as if Mason was a real person and we were getting a peek into the most important moments of his life. I really liked the concept so I might have to give The UP Series a watch.
I guess the colors are working for you, jgoodwin. haha
This is so interesting, I didn't know color could be this impactful. Just last night I went out to eat with a friend who refused to try a certain sauce simply because it had a weird color. I also wonder if this is why children's medicines are so vibrant.
Nike's only going to offer jerseys that make them money. If there's a small demand for women's team jerseys in men's sizes, why would they spend the money to produce them? As Women's World Cup gains more interest, however, of course Nike is going capitalize on it. Not because they're trying to promote equality, but because the market is finally there. Such is the nature of capitalisim.
That was incredibly interesting. I love VSauce. Michael always has something that makes me sit in wonder.
I have two, The Circle by Eggers and Outliers by Gladwell The Circle made me question the necessity of social media. I hadn't realized how anxious it made me feel. Since then I've deleted Facebook, Twitter, etc.. I feel like I have so much more time to myself and can just be present in the moment. Outliers made me aware of how success comes from seizing opportunities. It has made me more observant and grateful for the opportunities that I find (or forge myself!). Amazing, fascinating books that I would reccomend to anyone. I can see them on my bookshelf now.
Freedom feels wonderful. I'm really enjoying the slower pace of Hubski and the focus on discussion. I'm so used to being able to predict the top joke/comment on Reddit. Hubski feels like a breath of fresh air.
I think feeling lost is something every uni student goes thought. I'm finishing up my math degree next year and I have no clue what I'm going to do or where I'm headed. But if anyone can be sucessful and passionate in their careers it's you and me, ice-9-carrier. I have faith in both of us.
