"The goal is to become HBO faster than HBO can become us."
rarely do you hear a mission statement so honest, to the point and telling. This is a race. If Netflix can keep putting out programing as good as House of Cards, then they're going to be A-OK. I'm completely hooked 7 episodes in.
A lot of people are loving it. I must admit I have been putting it off, but I just love what Netflix is doing, putting 13 episodes right away so you decide when you want to watch the show. If this is the direction these type of networks are going, I must admit I'm looking forward to see what happens next.
Right on. I actually am wondering what people's opinions on House of Cards is. I love the cinematography, the Sherlock-eque text messaging, and Kevin Spacey's wonderful rendition of a Southern-accent. I think the plot is good, even if the pacing slows a little too much from time to time. Also some of the side-characters are somewhat forgettable, but overall I think Netflix did a damn good job.
I finished the first season and I have to revise my opinion of it a bit. It started off strong but I think it went a bit over-the-top. Normally, it takes a couple of seasons for a character to arc but not in this series. A little "too much" at the end there. Still, it's a good series and I'll watch season 2.
