I guess I would need a link to the discussion you're talking about before I could comment accurately, but it seems to me what your post boils down to is the ignore button. Ignore sexists and move on.

I'm not sure about this, incidentally. My favorite dozen or so posters and sharers never post anything that I notice on reddit, and more than a few of them have mentioned that they don't use reddit at all.
