Ignoring the obvious spelling error in the title, I thought this was a good start to a conversation about Ubuntu an their chances on mobile. Their OS looks very refined at this point, which leads me to believe that they've actually put a substantial amount of money into the project. If that is true, they are pretty invested in the success of the mobile platform. It just doesn't seem like they can do anything in the market right now. Do they deserve to? I think so, but it just won't happen.
I could see either HTC or LG building an Ubuntu phone. HTC has built so many phones that it wouldn't be hard to make one for Ubuntu. And LG isn't invested in Android enough (except for the Nexus 4) to not branch out. I doubt it's Samsung though.
I think some OEM from china like ZTE, Huawei and many other non glamour OEM. Chinese market is very big and still in raw. The chinese are very brave and keen to adapt new thing, invention and innovation. Due to this Jolla is working very hard to build their core and spreading the first release of Sailfish OS in China. But I love to see Canonical build a Ubuntuphone itself for the first release.
I could see Samsung building one. They build a phone for everything, in every shape, size, and feature set that could possibly exist. None of that will matter though, -it is even less likely to take off than Ubuntu on desktop. The market doesn't want a great mobile OS on great mobile hardware, -we've moved well beyond that. You now need a great OS on great hardware with a great big base of developers and a large app ecosystem with all the major apps along with a great media purchase/streaming applications/stores. Do consumers want another mobile OS? Nah. But hobbyists will dig it, I'm sure :)
