At least here in Sweden I believe most vaccine sceptisism stems from the 2009 H1N1 vaccine Pandemrix, which in some cases caused narcolepsy in children, and how it was handled by the government. It took a really long time for it to be recognised as an issue, and even longer until the government accepted responsibility and some of the victims to get compensated for what is essentially a life-long disability. A family friend was three months too old and might have to spend the rest of his life in poverty due to this. Now the current government has come out and said that they will take responsibility for any potential side effects of the covid vaccines, but actions speak louder than words and with the exception of the tinfoil hats, I can understand some of the vaccine sceptics.
