Just called our county department of health to find out if we would be considered an "essential" service in the event Seattle goes shelter-in-place too. They hadn't thought about it, but they thanked me for my inquiry.

I suspect RCW 48.41.030 has us compelled to stay open but we shall see when we see.

Are there certain kinds of things that people would go to hospitals for that the birth center could accommodate (I mean, besides the obvious)? I guess it would probably help alleviate some pressure on the health system if that's the case.

We also do primary care. And yeah - our staff is super-mad that we didn't call The Daily Beast back despite the fact that given a choice,, the Daily Beast will happily burn midwives at the stake.
