Patient Zero for this was an (1984?) ad for (I believe) IBM, in which a desk was assembled on top of one of the spires in The Needles, Utah. The desk itself was basically several panels of foamcore which were brought up by a lone climber, who then changed into a suit, hid his pack under the foamcore desk, and waited for the helicopter to come take his picture. It's outlined (and presented) in John Annerino's High Risk Photography, my copy of which I appear to have misplaced. It might even be the cover image.

1. How is this something that you know. 2. Bummer. They don't have this at the library. BUT they do have this. Which seems just as cool.
