I heard that song and loved it quite a while before I had any idea what the motorcycle looked like. A friend of a friend knew the song and played it while we were on a campout around a fire. I looked up Richard Thompson later and listened to a lot of his music for a while. I don't remember looking up the bike.

First time I really noticed a Vincent was when Top Gear used one in one of their challenges. On a miserable cold rainy day, Clarkson smugly drove somewhere in a car, Hammond ride the bike, and James May sweated shoveling coal in an antique train. I don't remember the details, but Hammond and May were both miserable the whole time, while still insisting that the old bikes and trains were amazing, and had some spirit to them that new stuff lacks.
