This may sound a little weird, but Microsoft Excel.

I used to use it for making lists, schedules, even diagrams.

Once I learned what it was REALLY for... I use it every day and I would be lost (at work) without it. The cool thing is, I have only scratched the surface of what it can do.

Nerd... I know.

Could you be a little more specific? Now I feel like I'm using excel wrong.

I think you can use excel for the basics - and it does just fine. But I've found it to be so good at is crunching huge amounts of data and cross referencing multiple sources of data, and quickly making sense of huge batches of data. It makes me feel a bit like I was driving a ferrari, and never got out it of first gear.

And again - I don't claim to be any kind of Excel expert - it has just become an invaluable part of my workflow. I use it every day, and in a weird way - I have come to really love it and appreciate it.

No, I took a class on it a while back, and have used it in the office for years. It's a ridiculously powerful program, I don't even know 5% of what it does though I know more than most. I got much love for Excel.
