First tape I ever bought with my allowance as a kid was License to Ill. There have been many musicians pass away that I've loved over the years but this is the first that was actually of my generation and not just one that I admired from the past.

I was kicked out of my 3rd grade class for singing the lyrics to Girls with two classmates. I used to walk around my neighborhood with my little boom-box and sing along to Paul Revere with my neighbor, we loved that song and played it all the time.

I saw Q-Tip perform Ill Communication live with them, it was sweet. Saw them on tour several times. One time I made out with a random girl at a concert they played in Michigan and ended up having a crazy little fling with her. I probably made out to a lot of girls while the Beastie's were playing

Whenever we threw parties, we had the Beastie Boys on the CD player. When driving to someone else's party, they were there being blasted in our cars. At field parties, they were blasted. They were everywhere growing up. Everywhere.

I feel like I grew up with them. I love their music and I'm really sad that this era is over. MCA had such a great gravely voice. This sucks. RIP MCA and thanks for the soundtrack to my childhood and frankly much of my adult life too.

MCA was willing, and he's my ace!

I hear that. Beastie Boys were a bridge to so much good music for me. I doubt I would know anything about The Meters, Buddy Rich or any good hip hop if not for them. I just watched a vid when he announced he had a lump in his throat and was apologizing to people that bought tickets to an upcoming tour. Almost as if he knew that he would get through it. Im tired of playing tributes lately. Hopefully this is the last one of the year
