I know you have to spend money to make money, but I worry if Tesla is trying to take on too much too fast. It's a great company and they're doing exciting things, I'd hate to see financial hardships put a monkey wrench in their works.

I could be wrong, but I think I read somewhere that while Tesla was a company (and so did see profits as a major goal), Musk originally made his companies in order to innovate and renovate, not only to make profits.

So I doubt Musk would allow financial hardship to happen. Growth temporarily slowed or stopped, yes, but not anything that would threaten the financial independance of both Tesla and SpaceX.

As far as I am concerned, however, solar power for a factory is a good investment - with the amount of energy it takes to run it, they will most likely pay off these panels faster than any individual could dream of (without mentioning being a bit cleaner than the grid and being independant, so that any power outages won't be a setback to the factory). Though I wish construction could be done on that terrain, because I'd wager that a molten salt solar array would provide more power. But oh well.

Still, I'm 90% that the people managing Tesla know what they are doing.
