This is a very badly written article, but the comments are great. My favorite is "Ironically, Carbonite lacked a back up plan…"

NB, I don't have a dog in this fight - Carbonite lost 13 years of my files because of a software glitch a couple of years ago so I got a 100% refund and switched to dropbox. And monthly offsite backups.

I've been using Crashplan for a few months now. It offers more flexibility than Carbonite for the same price, without the questionable business practices. I'd prefer the services I use to not advertise on controversial talk shows, regardless of content.

People keep saying that, but I don't get why they care except in mega-extremes.

I think, for example, that the SPLC is pretty much a net negative on the legal scene, but I don't boycott GE appliances because of corporate giving.

Jane Fonda, now, that's a whole different matter. :-)

You think the SPLC is a negative organization? How so? They're dedicated to tracking (potentially dangerous) hate groups. They also seem to do a small amount of important civil rights litigation as well.

They used to be pretty darn impressive. You should read up on them. It's a pretty big deal locally how much the board is pillaging the endowment, etc, etc.

I'd love to read anything you could find that tells that story. On the national level, I only see their organization reflected positively through their court cases and anti-hate work.

I don't use Carbonite so I have no dog in this fight either. I can honestly say though that when I buy my next house my mortgage is Quicken's to lose. From Dan Gilbert's Twitter:

Quicken loans (not owned by Intuit anymore, amusingly) were sponsors for almost a decade. This isn't the first storm of controversy Rush has ignited - you may recall the furor over "I hope he fails" a few years ago. Some internal calculus has apparently changed. That doesn't, IMHO, make QL more or less "virtuous" than they were a week ago.

PS - I actually think the guys at QL have been a game changer in the home mortgage business and admire them greatly.

There are better clips of him mocking Fox but I thought I'd let my favorite radio personality describe it. This, btw is a very unusual thing for Rehm to do which made it all the more poignant. Solidified my dislike for him and my appreciation for her.

As for Quicken, better late than never.
