Hm. I hesitantly await the release of Kindred. Wasn't a big fan of this song, especially in comparison to the previous two songs released. Lifted Up (1985) blows this and Where the Sky Hangs out of the water, this track kind of feels like a track they wrote specifically for people to yell for it at concerts so they can break it out at some point. Guess what I'm saying is that it feels kind of empty to me. Even Where the Sky Hangs felt below their capabilities but it was so thoroughly 80s that I still enjoyed it a bit. But man, Lifted Up is some four on the floor craziness with lyrics to back it up.
I've liked each of the three singles off of Kindred so far. I think they are very catchy and seem to be the next logical step with this project. At the same time, each song leaves me desiring something.... more, and I can't put my finger on what that is.
Huh, I had no idea they had some new songs out. I became an instant fan when I first heard Make Light and to be honest I really am not a fan of the direction their sound has been heading. Now I'm all for indie-pop, I love indie-pop, but this sounds so generic to me. Their Manners album was slightly subdued and their voices had an obscurity to them that made them, in my eyes, unique. Now they are unabashedly bombastic and have fairly normal sounding lyrics. Now don't get me wrong I still enjoy their newer stuff but, old Passion Pit come back!!!!
