- It turns out Bob Dylan is big Frank Sinatra fan. You just probably won't hear it from him. To promote Shadows In The Night, an album of songs Sinatra made famous, Dylan gave just one print interview — to the AARP.
"Bob [Dylan] intentionally wanted to reach the AARP audience," says Bob Love, editor in chief of AARP The Magazine, "and he thought that this record would be more appreciated by people who have more wisdom and experience in life."

Every US citizen over 50 gets that magazine. No other media outlet with the possible exception of the Fearless Flyer has that kind of buy-in with a demographic that reveres him and still buys music in stores. It's a dang smart move: they feel special, we feel more rage about Baby Boomers taking advantage of their children the way they ripped off their parents, the class war inches closer... ...but that ever-touring mofo will be the soundtrack for BOTH SIDES.
