I completely agree with this. I watched the video. It was touching and dramatic and yeah, brought years to my eyes. However I've long been aware that as far as banks go, TD is on the shittier side of things and has had multiple compliance issues and lawsuits brought against them. In fact the whole video was very reminiscent of another one I saw where a small airline was offering appreciation to its customers in a very similar way earlier this year. I wondered if someone at TD had seen the video and decided to co-opt it in fact because the two were so similar. It's clearly a big PR stunt on TD's part. I saw it and was touched... But I ain't gonna be buyin in to it.
The only things I thought when I originally watched the TD commercial were: 1. Corporations have no idea how to be human 2. If central banking hadn't generated so much inequality, we would have a basic income, and these poor people would already have savings for their kids college, or be able to visit their grandchildren in another country. Fuck all of the banks.
