I get that. It's much more appropriate to use the 'hide' functionality, instead of ganging up on folks with what is essentially a user-aggregated ban.
I don't think that they mean anything bad by it honestly, but it does feel kind of bad when people are annoyed at users like you (and me).
For the record, I'm pretty sure that I'm the one that tagged it as such. I didn't do it out of annoyance, I'm glad to meet the both of you. Truly. It's a way to help curate and keep the influx of such questions separate from those that don't wish to participate in conversations about things they likely are already aware of -site mechanics etc. These questions largely come from new redditors. Hence the tag. I'm looking forward to getting to know you all as you use the site.
I think it's a good idea. It keeps those that would be annoyed enough to complain and such out of the thread to so it makes it better for us to.
That is a good point and a great way of looking at it.
Look, no one on this site is going to tell someone else what to do. I think your perception of "being ganged up on" is a little over the top. There's nothing personal about it. No one is saying "oh look at that newbie noeatnosleep, he must be for reddit, we're going to follow him around and tag his posts with #reddit." I'm just saying, don't expect a mod post - we don't have mods - saying "Hey guys don't tag things whatever you want." It's not really how we work.
No "ganging up" about it my friend, it's curation and that's it. I hope you feel welcome, honestly.
