This is just a small part of the ills of monopoly. less service higher prices. The U.S. basically doesn't restrain monopoly and citizens suffer the consequences.

I don't understand why the right side of the political spectrum doesn't rail against anti-competitive private behavior as it does against government regulation. There several markets in the US where competition does not exist.

I have Comcast. That is my only choice. In theory we could have DSL, however we tried, and our phone lines won't hold the signal. AT&T still insisted on charging us for the month after we cancelled, and at the same time was billing us for 4 months after we cancelled and moved from the prior apartment. It was only when the collection agency called, that I learned about those charges.
