You know, I've had Saudi on my "last ditch" list of places I'd head to teach English for a while now. The salaries for English teachers aren't what they used to be, but they're still pretty high and tax free for the first year, but the more I meet people who have lived or worked there or read about what life is like, the more I think I should just cross it off the list. One thing I did appreciate about the article was the way it talked about American exceptionalism and this idea that everyone out there in the world is, "just like us." From my own experience, there are plenty of cultures out there that have made me marvel that our cultures exist on the same planet and at the same time.
