I am so beyond excited for this. The Postal Service is one of the first bands I discovered that led me away from classic rock during my early high school years. I've seen Death Cab for Cutie live before, and it was a great show. I'm not sure as to the visual aesthetic and energy of a live Postal Service show though, as it's mostly electronic and not terribly upbeat. Which leads to another thing, the music hasn't withstood the test of the time impeccably. It's fairly simple electronic music, and some people criticize it for that, saying that electronic music has developed and become so much more nuanced since this release. I can agree with that, but it doesn't take away from the music for me.
How do you all feel about this reunion? I would love to see new material, but am perfectly content with live dates and the reissue. Here's a couple of songs for those of you that are unfamiliar with them.
The District Sleeps Alone Tonight Against All Odds, this one is actually a cover of a Phil Collins song that he wrote for a soundtrack for a film of the same name.
